Site Visit to Ireland - Dublin, Limerick & Galway
October 1-9, 2005*

Irish Studies Summer School (LAC)
Students study Irish literature, history, and culture at Trinity College in Dublin. This program provides the opportunity to learn about both historical and contemporary Ireland through fiction, drama, mythology, architecture, film and television.

Work in Ireland Program (BUNAC and CIEE)
In these programs, students uniquely experience Irish culture, improve communication skills, and gain work experience while off-setting travel costs. Both programs offer pre-departure guidance, work permit sponsorship, orientation, 24-hour emergency support, and assistance in finding work and housing. We’ll visit some sites in Dublin.

Dublin Parliamentary Internship (Arcadia)
Students gain a unique understanding of legislative processes through this internship program at Oireachtas, the National Parliament of Ireland. They also have the opportunity to assist a member of parliament several days a week while taking related classes at the Institute of Public Administration.

University Studies in Ireland (Arcadia)

This program offers an opportunity to access a full range of courses alongside local students at a prestigious Irish university. Local support services, excursions, and an orientation ensure students will make the most of their time in Ireland.

Site Visit to Spain— Toledo
October, 2005*

International Program in Toledo (LAC)
The Learning Abroad Center manages this program in collaboration with the UMTC Spanish and Portuguese Department and the prestigious José Ortega y Gasset Foundation. Based in the walled city of Toledo, the program offers Spanish language, humanities, social science, and fine arts courses. A variety of internships are available. Students study at San Juan de la Penitencia, a converted 16th century convent. Students can choose to either live in the Penitencia or do a homestay. This program is looking to expand into new academic areas.

Site visit to Australia – Townsville, Brisbane, Sydney & Wollongong (In collaboration with AustraLearn)
Spring Break, 2006*

Study & Internships in Sydney (LAC)
Students live and study in Sydney, one of Australia’s most exciting cities. They take classes with other program students and integrate into Australian culture by participating in an internship. The program offers a wide range of fields for students to select from.

University Study in Australia (AustraLearn)

An active and in-depth orientation helps students prepare for study alongside local students at an Australian university. A diverse and extensive range of opportunities allows students to tailor coursework to their career and academic goals.


University Study in Australia (LAC)
James Cook U, Townsville
U of Wollongong, New South Wales

Students have a unique opportunity to participate first-hand in Australian student life by studying at James Cook University, the University of Melbourne (not on site tour), or the University of Wollongong for a semester or year. Each university offers a wide range of courses. Excellent orientations, on-site staff, excursions, and activities enrich and complete their time in Australia.

Site Visit to Germany – Berlin & Freiburg
Spring, 2006*

Scholarship Exchange in Germany (LAC)
The International Reciprocal Student Exchange Program (IRSEP) offers scholarships for study at Freie U in Berlin, Germany. Students enroll in language classes, host university courses, or special classes for international students. This is a unique opportunity for students to integrate fully into Germany’s academic and cultural life.

Business Studies (LAC)
This program is designed for students studying business, marketing, and economics. Students choose from course offerings at the International Education of Students (IES) Center and from a wide array of business, and culture courses taught in English at the Berlin School of Economics (the Fachhochschule fuer Wirtschaft Berlin) Special courses are offered on contemporary European economics and German culture and civilization, as well as beginning, intermediate, and advanced German language courses. Internships at the end of the semester enable students with sufficient German language ability to experience the dynamic German business environment.

Internship in Germany (CDS)
Students enhance their studies in German language, business, journalism, mass communications, law, and political science with a paid internship. Various programs are offered, from summer to year-long internships in German companies, organizations, and government. We’ll visit some sites in Berlin.

IES Berlin & IES Freiburg (IES)
Located in both Berlin & Freiburg, these programs provide a high level of student support and offer upper-division courses taught in German, and German cultural immersion. Students select from specialized courses for program participants, Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin or Albert-Ludwigs Universitat Freiburg courses, and internships.

University Study in Freiburg (LAC)
Located in the picturesque student town of Freiburg, this program enables students to enroll in courses at the University of Freiburg. On-site staff provide essential program support, and one additional culture course is offered for program participants.
