About the Program
The University Study in Egypt (AUC) is located in one of the Middle East’s largest and oldest cities, the bustling capital of Egypt. The University is known for its diverse English-taught curriculum and strong Arabic language instruction. Study alongside Egyptian and Arab students and experience the rich history, architecture, and culture of one of the world’s oldest civilizations. The University is located short distances from the Pyramids of Giza, the Temple of Luxor, and the Red Sea.
In summer 2008, the campus relocates to a new 260 acre campus in New Cairo, just east of the Cairo suburbs of Heliopolis and Nasr City. The new location allows American University in Cairo to expand its academic programs and develop exciting new opportunities for its students.
Faculty
& Staff

Ninety percent of the University’s faculty has either a doctorate
or the highest terminal degree in their field. The University has
an Office of International Student Services that offers academic
advising and support services for study abroad students. American
University in Cairo also has a New York office offering application
and pre-departure advising.

Students live either near campus in the Zamalek residence hall, located in a quiet residential quarter of Cairo or arrange their own off-campus apartment. The International Student Services Office at AUC can provide some assistance finding off-campus housing, though the responsibility of finding an apartment and roommates, signing a lease, and paying rent and utilities will be the students'.
More information on housing can be found on the AUC Housing website.
Excursions & Social Activities
The Office of International Student Services arranges several optional activities, social events, and excursions. They also coordinate the Friends of International Students program, the Faculty Student Mentor program, and distribute the LovEgypt newsletter.
