Description
Gain a better understanding of contemporary West Africa while enjoying
the warm, friendly atmosphere of Ghana. Choose from a wide variety
of courses at Ashesi University in Accra, and take advantage of community involvement opportunities
outside of class.
Curriculum
Take introductory Twi language and three to four regular courses at Ashesi University, or complete an independent study. Ashesi University allows you to focus on an intensive curriculum of African studies among other areas, including business administration, computer science, and liberal arts. Your educational experience is further enhanced by service learning activities incorporated into the Ashesi curriculum.

in English by Ashesi University faculty. Typical credits: 30–36
for academic year; 15–18 for fall or spring semester.

Open to Juniors and above with 3.0 GPA. Application deadlines are March 15 for fall semester and academic
year, and October 15 for spring semester and calendar year.

Estimated Cost Students from the University of Minnesota participating
on this program are charged a program fee that is inclusive of the cosponsored
program's fee and a University of Minnesota fee to cover the cost of application
processing, advising services, orientation, course registration, grade transfer
and posting for resident credit, assistance with financial aid, and international
health insurance. This administrative fee ranges from $500 to $1,500 and varies
by program. The cosponsored program's portion of the program fee can be used to
assist in estimating cost and is available at the program site linked below. In
most cases, airfare, field trips, meals, and personal expenses are additional.
