Description
Study language and culture in Buenos Aires, Argentinas sophisticated
and colorful capital, home to a fascinating mix of traditions.
Curriculum
Combine intensive language study at the beginning, intermediate,
and advanced levels with area studies courses in international business,
the arts, and social sciences in the beginning/intermediate program.
Students with advanced language skills must take courses at the
Universidad de Buenos Aires. Students with a 3.2 GPA are eligible
for the advanced Spanish honors program at Universidad Torcuato
di Tella. Internships offered in business, education, and the arts.
Students completing a teaching internship receive ESL certification.
Instruction in Spanish and English by Argentine faculty. Typical
credits: 30 per year; 15 for fall or spring semester.
Eligibility &
Application
Open to University of Minnesota sophomores
and above with a 3.0 GPA. No Spanish language requirement for the
beginning level; at least two years of Spanish is required for the
intermediate level. Additional requirements for the advanced Spanish
and advanced Spanish honors programs and enrollment at Universidad
Torcuato di Tella.
Application deadlines is in mid- March for fall semester/academic
year and early November for spring semester/calendar year.

Estimated Cost Students from the University of Minnesota participating
on this program are charged a program fee that is inclusive of the cosponsored
program's fee and a University of Minnesota fee to cover the cost of application
processing, advising services, orientation, course registration, grade transfer
and posting for resident credit, assistance with financial aid, and international
health insurance. This administrative fee ranges from $500 to $1,500 and varies
by program. The cosponsored program's portion of the program fee can be used to
assist in estimating cost and is available at the program site linked below. In
most cases, airfare, field trips, meals, and personal expenses are additional.
