IRSEP Responsibilities
You should be certain that you can complete the IRSEP participation requirements before submitting your application:
Before Departure
- Enroll as a full-time University of Minnesota student for the entire academic year
- Initiate or continue appropriate language studies
- Attend two mandatory orientation sessions
- Work with the returned student and international student to prepare for time abroad
- Represent the University of Minnesota abroad
- Pursue an appropriate course of study
- Participate in host country student and community life
- Submit monthly reports of experiences abroad
- Serve as a resource person regarding IRSEP, the University of Minnesota, and your host country
- Submit a final report based on your time abroad
- Enroll as a University of Minnesota student for the entire academic year
- Participate in recruitment activities including study abroad fairs and classroom presentations
- Serve as the primary contact for program details with contact information provided to interested applicants
- Assist in the selection of the new IRSEP exchangee(s)
- Participate in the formal orientation of the new IRSEP exchangee(s) by attending two orientation sessions
- Manage the informal orientation of the new IRSEP exchangee(s)
- Work with the international student, possibly picking them up at the airport
