This program appeals to students who are interested in participating in a full scholarship exchange and want to improve their Chinese or learn about Chinese culture.

Academic Structure

Program type: IRSEP China is a full scholarship exchange. Participants attend Nankai University in Tianjin. Instruction is in English or Chinese by Chinese faculty. Read more to find out if exchange programs are an ideal fit for you.

Level: Various levels.

Term: Academic year.

Prerequisites: 2.5 GPA;2 years of college-level Chinese; juniors and above. Chinese citizens are not eligible.

Courseload: 24-30 credits.

Coursework

Take courses for foreigners in modern Chinese language, culture, history, religion, music, and art at Nankai's College of Chinese Culture and Literature. Linguistically advanced students may take Nankai University courses. Go to Nankai University's website for course listings.

Global Identity: Connecting Your International Experience with Your Future
This 1-credit online course will help you:

  1. process your overseas experience and apply what you learn upon your return
  2. understand intercultural lingo and relate it to your experience
  3. reflect on the multiple layers of cross-cultural experiences
  4. market your study abroad experience for future career goals.

An intensive summer language program is available, though not included in the exchange benefits.
