This program appeals to students who are interested in participating in a scholarship exchange, want to take courses taught in English, or need to fulfill liberal arts requirements.

Academic Structure

Program type: IRSEP Malaysia is a full scholarship exchange. Participants attend the University Sains Malaysia (USM) in Penang. Instruction is in English by Malaysian faculty. Read more to find out if exchange programs are an ideal fit for you.

Term: Academic year.

Prerequisites: 2.5 GPA; juniors and above.

Courseload: 24-30 credits.

Coursework

Enroll in courses covering a wide range of topics at USM, including political science, history, economics, environmental studies, biology, mathematics, electrical engineering, journalism & mass communication, business, marketing, music, art and computer science.

Global Identity: Connecting Your International Experience with Your Future
This 1-credit online course will help you:

  1. process your overseas experience and apply what you learn upon your return
  2. understand intercultural lingo and relate it to your experience
  3. reflect on the multiple layers of cross-cultural experiences
  4. market your study abroad experience for future career goals.
