This program appeals to students who are interested in immersing themselves in Austrian culture, want to fulfill liberal arts requirements, or would like to study alongside Austrian students.
Academic Structure
Program type: Bilateral Exchange in Graz is an exchange program. Immerse yourself in student life at the University while taking regular university classes. Instruction is in German by Austrian faculty.
Level: Various levels
Term: Spring semester, academic year. The University
of Graz's academic year begins in October and ends in late June.
Prerequisites: University of Minnesota sophomores and above, 2.75 GPA.
Courseload: 13–15 credits for spring semester or 26–30 for the academic year.
Coursework
A wide variety of classes are available in humanities, law, natural sciences, social and economic sciences, theology, translation, and interpreting. All classes are regular university classes taught in German. There are also a number of classes taught in English, which you can find on the University of Graz's website.
Global Identity: Connecting Your International Experience with Your Future
This 1-credit online course will help you:
- process your overseas experience and apply what you learn upon your return
- understand intercultural lingo and relate it to your experience
- reflect on the multiple layers of cross-cultural experiences
- market your study abroad experience for future career goals.
You may also enroll in an intensive three-week language program beginning one month prior to regular classes. However, the cost of the language program is not included in the program fee.
