About the Program Sponsor: Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS)
Copenhagen, founded more than 800 years ago, combines the old-world
charm of its medieval origins with the vibrant life of a modern
European capital. Historic six-story buildings and scattered squares,
parks, and gardens—including the world-famous Tivoli Gardens—characterize
the city. Within the historical ramparts, the worlds largest
pedestrian district creates a lively downtown with cinemas, clubs,
and cafes. The worlds oldest monarchy, modern Denmark is also
a democracy and a welfare state, characterized by social equality
and a high standard of living.
Enroll in a wide variety of courses taught in English—from architecture and business to pre-med and social sciences—and enjoy exciting study tours to other sites in Europe. Study tour sites include Sweden, Russia, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Program facilities include a student lounge, library, computer labs, and architecture studios; program staff offer orientation, advising, and support. Live with a Danish family or Danish students in a residence hall and deepen your understanding of this warm and welcoming culture.
Access Abroad
Persons with disabilities or special needs are encouraged to explore opportunities abroad. The Learning Abroad Center and Disability Services are collaborating to enhance access to study abroad for students with disabilities. Go to the Access Abroad web page for more information.
With good academic planning this program can fit well into the degree plans for many majors. Search for courses that fulfill Liberal Education Requirements or submit a course you want to take for review. Study Abroad in Your Major advising sheets explain why study abroad is important for a major, indicate what the department wants students to consider when selecting a program, and provide academic planning hints. This program may appear as a special recommendation on an advising sheet. If your major is not listed, talk to an adviser—this program may still fit your academic, career, and professional goals.
