Academics: Integrated
Studies Option
Fall & Spring Semester, Academic Year
Students on this track take at least two courses at Paul Valéry University with French and international students. Integrated Studies students register for 16–18 credits including:
- Pre-session: Fall and Academic Year Only (3 credits)
- Special Courses for US Students: advanced grammar (6 credits)
- Two integrated courses with French students (6 credits)
- Internship, advanced Institute for Foreign Student course, Special Course for US Students or an additional integrated course (3 credits)
- Online Global Identity course (optional, 1 credit)
Exact course selection depends on the student’s linguistic ability and academic objectives.
Institute for Foreign Students—Advanced
Courses
The Institute offers a variety of courses in history, culture, literature,
cinema, and art history. Students study alongside other international
students and benefit from classes designed for non-native French
speakers. These courses are known in advance and are listed
here.
Special Courses for US Students
These courses are designed with the specific needs of US students
in mind. These courses are known in advance and are listed here. All
students must enroll in a 6-credit grammar component.
Integrated Courses
Regular courses from across the curriculum at Paul Valéry
University are available to advanced students. Students must take
two Paul Valéry University courses as part of their course load.
Classes are not known in advance, but you can view fields of study offered and course examples.
The course offerings booklet from last academic year is also available for reference.
Fields include anthropology, art history, biology, business, chemistry, engineering, comparative literature, computer science, economics, education, English, environmental studies, French literature, geography, history, international relations, marketing, music, philosophy, physics, political science, psychology, and sociology.
Internships
Internships are available in various fields of interest. An accompanying course, The World of Work, enables students to reflect on the French
work environment while engaging in their internship. Download an application (pdf).
Past internship sites have included a library, government research agency, radio station, retirement home, elementary school, museums, and administrative offices at the university.
