Coursework
Semester Program:
You will choose
from more than 200 English-taught courses. Undergraduate courses are offered
at the 100–400 level. You should check the prerequisites of each
course to make sure you have adequate preparation to take the course.
400 level courses are generally master's level courses, though they
are occasionally open to undergraduates who have sufficient preparation
in the subject area. You can search for classes on the Norwegian
University of Life Science's website.
Each class at the university is typically worth between 5–20 ECTS credits, and they will be converted using a 2 to 1 ratio. You will take a total of 30 ECTS credits, or 15 US semester credits, each semester.
Global Identity: Connecting Your International Experience with Your Future
This optional, 1-credit online course will provide opportunities for you to make meaning of your learning abroad experience and prepare you to communicate your intercultural competence to future employers, graduate schools, or law schools. As global connectivity becomes increasingly important, you are asked to think beyond the borders of your own perception and better understand the world based on the new ideas and experiences to which you are exposed. Your ability to work in a multicultural setting and to succeed in different cultural contexts is vital to your future. This course will help you apply these skills to your post-graduation plans. The course is taught online with University of Minnesota instructors. Registration information will be provided with the program pre-departure orientation materials. The cost of the course is included as part of the program fee.
Summer Program:
On this program, students take one of three courses offered in Current Challenges in Management of Natural Resources; Animal Biotechnology; or Sustainable Sanitation: Decentralized, Natural and Ecological Wastewater Treatment. Each course combines classroom and field study.
Each class offers between 10-12 ECTS credits, which converts to 5-6 semester credits at the University of Minnesota.
