Fees
The program fee for University of Minnesota students is $4,100.
Due to the global economic climate, the Learning Abroad Center will delay the posting of some fees until enrollments, inflation and exchange rates are determined. Please note the average increase in fees will be 3–10%. If you do not see a budget estimate for the term you intend to go abroad, the fee has not yet been finalized. We strive to post fees for this program by the application deadline. Program fees are based on estimates and may change depending on international economic factors.
*The program fee includes tuition, program administration, housing, arrival and farewell meals, international health insurance, and local transportation. Some program fees include group flight airfare. See the Flights information below for more details. Students must also budget for passport and passport photos, most meals, textbooks, independent travel, and miscellaneous living expenses.
Some Global Seminar program fees include group flight airfare while others do not. See the Flights information below for flight details for your program.
- For a complete listing of estimated costs, see the Budget Estimate
Fees or tuition from home institutions may be added to or differ from the University of Minnesota Learning Abroad Center fees listed on this page.

The flight process was designed to keep costs down for students and to allow greater flexibility in the booking of flights for Global Seminar programs. If you have any questions about flights for your program, please contact your program team. *Students on Global Seminars with the flight included in the program fee: **Students on Global Seminars without the flight included in the program fee: If you elect to purchase the suggested flight or if the flight you purchase arrives and departs at the same time as the suggested flight, transportation to and from the airport will be provided. If you do not take the suggested flight or the flight you purchase does not arrive and depart at the same time as the suggested flight, you will be responsible for arranging your own transport from the airport to the designated housing and back to the airport on the departure date. If you are participating in a Global Seminars that does not have the flight included in the program fee, you will need to use your own funds to pay for the flight as the cost of the flight is not included in the program fee and will not be charged through your University of Minnesota student account. However, if you plan to use financial aid, the cost of your flight will be included on your Study Abroad Cost Estimate and will be factored into your financial aid package. Please read the information on Financial Aid for Study Abroad carefully. All students must arrive by the designated start date of the program. No late arrivals or early departures are allowed. Once the suggested flight is posted on the Village Travel website, we urge all students to book their flights as early as possible. Students on Winter Break programs must book their flight and submit their itinerary to the Learning Abroad Center by Nov. 15. Students on May Term programs must book their flight and submit their itinerary to the Learning Abroad Center by April 15. Again, once the suggested flight is posted on the Village Travel website we urge all students to book their flights as early as possible. |
