About the Program

There are few better settings in which to study Shakespeare's plays than London. Not only was London the theatrical home of Shakespeare, it is also a dynamic location that, like Shakespeare's theatrical work, is constantly reinventing itself in response to new people, new technologies, and new perspectives.

Too often when people think of Shakespeare, they imagine knee breeches, impossible language, and overacting. This course will counter those perceptions by thinking of Shakespeare as "our contemporary."

Excursions

Students spend their seminar time in and around London, taking advantage of the many museums and historic sites.

Participants attend a number of professional productions of Shakespeare's plays, meet with actors and directors, and tour theater spaces. Excursions may include:

Housing & Meals
Students live in shared apartments with other program participants. Welcome and farewell meals are included in the program fee. Additional meals can be taken in the apartments or at local eateries.

On-Site Support
On-site support is provided by a local learning abroad center. Students may have access to a computer lab, a classroom space, and a library. On-site staff provide information to students regarding cultural activities as well as ensuring 24-hour emergency support.

Access Abroad

Persons with disabilities or special needs are encouraged to explore opportunities abroad. The Learning Abroad Center and Disability Services are collaborating to enhance access to study abroad for students with disabilities. Go to the Access Abroad web page for more information.
