Coursework

The course consists of readings, lectures, field trips, and the opportunity to see productions as well as tour London theatres.

Students take a hands-on approach to learning about the rich history of English theater and how it might serve as a basis for understanding American perspectives on stage and film.

Assignments may include museum and production reviews. For the museum reviews, students visit some of London's most famous museums and choose objects or displays to analyze how they illuminate an aspect of Shakespeare's plays. For the production reviews, students critique the Shakespeare plays included in the syllabus for their acting, set design, interpretation, directing, etc.
