Confirmation Checklist

Follow this checklist to confirm your place in the program.

Note: If you plan to use financial aid (loans, grants, scholarships) to cover costs for your study abroad experience, you are encouraged to schedule a financial aid preview meeting prior to submitting your confirmation deposit.

	Review the Learning Abroad Center Cancellation Policy before turning in your confirmation materials
	Print & submit materials to the Learning Abroad Center by the date indicated on your acceptance email: Confirmation & Payment Agreement (after completion, a $400 non-refundable deposit is billed to your U of M student finance account) Release & Waiver
	Print & submit materials to the Learning Abroad Center prior to departure: Academic Planning Form (University of Minnesota–Twin Cities undergraduate students only). Copy of notarized Power of Attorney paperwork (optional but strongly recommended)
	Complete the 3-step orientation: Online Confirmation Orientation Mandatory online Health & Safety Orientation (emailed at a later time) In-person, Program-Specific Orientation
	Passport & Visa: All students must have a valid passport to take part in this program If you already have a passport, make sure that it is valid for the duration of the program, as well as up to six months after your return If you do not have a passport, apply for one as soon as possible; go to Travel Documents for more information You will receive more detailed visa information later in the process

Deposit and Program Fees
NOTE: Students on this program will need to pay a confirmation deposit to the Learning Abroad Center. In addition, upon your acceptance from AsiaLearn, you will also be asked to pay a $300 initial payment. Please submit this payment directly to AsiaLearn, as it will reduce your total housing fee. If you decide to cancel after paying deposits to the Learning Abroad Center and AsiaLearn, you are subject to both organizations' cancellation policies. Consult the Learning Abroad Center’s Cancellation Policy for more details on your financial obligations.

NOTE: The Learning Abroad Center bills you for tuition, fees, and insurance. AustraLearn bills you directly for housing and meal plans. Prior to your departure, you will receive an invoice from AustraLearn for a portion of housing and meal fees, approximately $1,800. You have the option to set up a payment plan.
