What are the eligibility requirements for my program?

How do I apply for my program?

Please review the Application Instructions for Custom Programs page for materials and instructions. Information regarding specific deadlines, application fees, where to turn in your application, program dates, and an admissions decision can be answered by the department offering the program.

Am I eligible to apply for Learning Abroad Center scholarships?

Yes! Visit Scholarships administered by the Learning Abroad Center.

When is the pre-departure orientation?

You will complete on on-line orientation for the Learning Abroad Center and attend an in-person orientation which will be organized through the department running the program.

What money will I have to pay after being accepted?

You will pay a non-refundable program deposit to confirm your participation.

How much will it cost me to participate in this program?

Please contact the department that is running the program for which you are applying.

How does billing work?

You will be billed through your University of Minnesota student account.

Do I have to be an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota to participate in this program?

Please contact the department that is running the program for which you are applying.

What kind of credit will I receive and how will I know if these credits will count towards my degree requirements?

You will receive resident credit, which count towards your GPA and appears on your University of Minnesota transcript. By completing the Academic Planning for Study Abroad form, you will know how study abroad credits will fit in with your degree requirements.

Will I have to arrange my own travel to the program site?

Please contact the department that is running the program for which you are applying.

Will I be covered by insurance while abroad?

Yes. You will have CISI health insurance for the duration of your program.

How will I register for this program?

The Learning Abroad Center will provide you with registration information and you will complete on-line self-registration.
