Language Study

Short-term programs offer the possibility of gaining international experience without an extended time commitment. They vary from internships to faculty-led seminars, to coursework-based programs, to independent teaching assignments. Many take place during the summer months, although other timelines may be accommodated. The following programs offer graduate level credit.

Global Seminars
Global Seminars are short-term study abroad programs led by University of Minnesota faculty during winter break or May session.

Custom & Departmental Programs
Travel with knowledgeable professors and fellow students for three to four weeks and examine the topic of study from an in-depth international perspective. Program eligibility varies by program and department. The following programs offer graduate level credit.

SPAN
Conduct independent research in-country under the direction of a University of Minnesota instructor. Program includes preparatory course on campus and writing an academic research paper.

Petersons and IIE also publish study abroad catalogs that are in the Learning Abroad Resource Center. In order to receive graduate level credit and financial aid through these programs you will need to use the Outside Programs process for graduate students.
