Partial Credit/Early Departure

Policy Statement

Partial credit cannot be earned for an individual course.

A student who departs a study abroad program early due to serious illness, injury, or personal emergency is generally not entitled to extensions or remote completion of coursework. Exceptions may be made when a student departs near the end of the term. In those cases, the student may be given permission to complete one or more courses remotely and/or extensions may be granted with a written agreement of the timeframe for completing assignments (generally no more than a few weeks), pending approval by the Learning Abroad Center and host institution / affiliate partner.

Procedures

A student in this situation needs to contact the onsite program staff as early as possible to determine if one or more courses could be completed remotely. The student should also be in contact with the Learning Abroad Center for approval.
